Before starting therapy, we will have an initial session to enable us to learn about each other. This will give us a chance to discuss what is bringing you to therapy, your expectations of the work, and how the process of therapy might progress.
The initial session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of my theraputic style and decide whether it is right for you.
If you decide you would like to enage in therapy with me, we will talk about what you would like to gain from therapy and discuss a contract that outlines the practicalities of our work going forward. This will include information for you (e.g. outlining the boundaries of confidentiality) and details of my terms (such as my fee and the cancellation policy).
It is important to me that you feel that you are benefiting from the therapy and throughout our work together we will regularly review progress.
Duration of our work
The duration of psychotherapy can vary depending on what you want to gain from the work. Short term work can be used to look at a specific issue, while longer-term therapy may allow you to address more complex or deep seated issues.
